Kiyora Kanaru Miyajima 23 - 30

Ch 1 23-30

I haven't updated in so long. :( But at least I have eight pages this time. In this section, Kiyora gets an unpleasant surprise. Later, the guys ride the ropeway to the top of Mt. Misen to see the oldest demon.

I'll note here that I appreciate how the artist gets the little details about Miyajima. The ferry I see in the comic is the same ferry I rode, and the station is the same station (including the fact that the streetcar station is right next to it).

Girl: You’re late!

恩賀：わらい、船一本乗りおくれた

Onga: Cheer up. I only missed one boat.

女の子：しょーがないねえ

Girl: I guess you couldn’t help it

きよら：大しゃくし！

Kiyora: Giant rice paddle!

Sound effect: head whips around

女の子：ん？

Girl: huh?

女の子：なーに？

Girl: what’s up?

恩賀：いや、なんでも

Onga: Nah, it’s nothing.

その女の子と恩賀くん一緒に電車乗っていっちゃったの。。。

Onga-kun and that girl went off on the train together…

きよら：あたし三本も電車に乗れずにそこに座って。。。

I just sat there and missed three trains…

遅刻しちゃったよ、学校。。。

In the end I was late for school.

彼女かなー

I wonder if she’s his girlfriend.

カラス天狗：そりゃそーよね

Crow Spirit: Could be

きよら：恩賀くん王子さまだもん

Kiyora: Onga’s my prince…

きよら：ねー聞いてる？カラスてんぐちゃん

Kiyora: Hey, Crow Spirit, are you listening?

なんで寝てる時はちっちゃいの？

Why do you get small when you sleep?

カラスてんぐ：ぐうー

Crow Spirit: Snore…

Princesses: We are praising it, Kiyora. Kiyora! Really…

Crow spirit: Are you dating anyone?

恩賀：おまえには言わない

Onga: I wouldn’t tell you.

カラス天狗：鬼には言うのか？

Crow spirit: But you’d tell the demons???

恩賀：言うかも

Onga: Maybe.

カラス天狗：おまえちっちゃい頃からかわいくなさすぎっ！

Crow Spirit: You always were a brat ever since you were a kid!

Stomp Stomp

恩賀：ゆらすな

Onga: You’re rocking the car.

ぎゃむ

Wump

恩賀：だーかーらー

Onga: Told you…

 恩賀：なんでロープウエーに乗る！？

Onga: Why are you even riding the ropeway?

恩賀：おまえら全員飛べっ！！

Onga: You all can fly!!

さんさん：おなかすいてムリ

San-San: I can’t when I’m so hungry.

恩賀：これはダメーっ一ノ鬼にもってくカキ飯

Onga: No way! I’m taking this oyster rice to the first demon.

一ノ鬼：この三日間は風が強まりそうだ

First demon: It appears that the wind will grow stronger over the next three days.

島内はもちろん船にも気をつけてやってくれ

The island is a given, but boats should also be careful.

Onga: I’ll drop by again.

一ノ鬼：風雅は達者であるか？

First Demon: Is Fuuga in good health?

恩賀：父さん？"火鬼八”と消防団を飛び回ってる元気だよ

Onga: Dad? Kakiya and the fire brigade keep him hopping. He’s great.

恩賀（思想）：オレが七歳になるまでは

Onga (thought): Until I was seven years old

恩賀（思想）：父さんは三鬼の姿を見ることができた

Dad could see the three demons

その前はじいちゃん

Before that it was grandpa

恩賀（思想）：鬼たちから助言や戒めを与えられる厳島を守るために

Onga: We received advice and commands from the demons in order to protect Itsukushima.

恩賀：あっ

Onga: Huh?

恩賀（思想）：霊火堂から煙じゃなく花びらが！？

Onga : That’s not smoke, those are petals coming from the shrine!

Notes : If I hadn't read the earlier conversation with Kiyora, I would have interpreted the conversation on page 26-27 differently... The crow spirit shows up behind Onga and proceeds to ask leading questions about his dating life. Then the crow spirit gets jealous and flies into a rage (pun intended) at the idea Onga might be confiding in someone else. If you were Onga, wouldn't you interpret it as "This guy is coming on to me"? Who knows, maybe Onga does think the crow spirit has a crush on him. Onga is pretty tight lipped overall.
