世界中から多くの観客が ねる広島県廿日市市の"宮島”。宮島にある、紅葉まんじゅう屋“もみじ姫”の一人娘“きよら”は、同じくみやじまにすむ牡蠣料理屋“火鬼八”の息子"恩賀”に密かに思いを寄せている。きよらが恩賀との距離が縮まらずモヤモヤしていると、カラス天狗や弥山を守る三鬼、嚴島神社に祀られている三姫たちからあどばいすが。一途な思いを寄せるきよらの恋の行方は？
Miyajima: The city in Hatsukaiichi, Hiroshima-ken where many
travelers come from around the world. Kiyora, the only daughter of a momiji
manju shop, has feelings for the son of the oyster restaurant (Kakiya), Onga,
who also lives in Miyajima. As Kiyora is depressed over the distance between
her and Onga, the crow spirit and the three demons that guard Misen, and the
three princes enshrined in Itsukushima shrine give her advice. What will become
of single-minded Kiyora’s love?
きよらKiyora
もみじまんじゅう屋"もみじ姫"の一人娘。広島に住む高校生で、長く恩賀に片思い中。ちょっと天然なところも。。。三姫の姿が見え声聞くことができる。
The only daughter of the momiji manju shop “Momiji Hime.” A
high school student living on Miyajima, she has long been in unrequited love
with Onga. She’s also a bit of an airhead. She can see the form and hear the
voices of the three princesses.

牡蠣料理屋"火鬼八"の一人息子。宮島に住む高校生で、物怖じすることなくはっきりものを言う。その反面、気遣いもできる。三鬼の姿が見える。
The only son of the oyster restaurant “Kakiya.” A high
school student living on Miyajima who speaks clearly without bashfulness. On the
other hand, he can also worry. He can see the forms of the three demons.
三姫
The Three Princesses
嚴島神社に祀られている三女神。代々"もみじ姫"の一人娘にだけ姿が見える。
Three goddesses enshrined in Itsukushima shrine. For
generations their form has been visible only to the only daughter of “Momiji
Hime.”
一ノ姫
First Princess
厳島で人々の幸せを願う。激しさと美しさを併せ持ち、目力が半端ない。神社からでると小さくとかわいくなる。
From Itsukushima, she wishes for people’s happiness. She
combines intensity and beauty, so there’s more than a little power in her gaze.
When she leaves the shrine, she becomes small and cute.
二ノ姫
Second Princess
もみじまんじゅう大好き。一ノ姫と同じく、神社からでると小さくなる。三人の中で一番穏やか。
She loves momiji manjuu. As with the first princess, she
becomes small when she leaves the shrine. Of the three, she is the most gentle.
三ノ姫
Third Princess
厳島から出ることなく、一ノ姫と二ノ姫が留守中もお社を守り続ける者。実は食いしん坊。
Never leaving Itsukushima, she’s the person who guards the
shrine when the first and second princesses are absent. Actually a glutton.
三鬼
The Three Demons
長きに渡って弥山を護り続けている。"火鬼八"の一人息子にだけ姿が見える。
Over a long time they have continued to guard Misen. Their
shape is visible only to the only son of “Kakiya.”
一ノ鬼
First Demon
三鬼堂に住み弥山を守る。常に先や周りを見て働き、代々"火鬼八"の一人息子に厳島内外の忠告戒めを与えている。
He lives in the demon temple and protects Mt. Misen. Always
circumspect and careful, for generations he has given advice and commands to
the only son of “Kakiya” about the area around Itsukushima.
二ノ鬼（二キ）
Second Demon (Niki)
やんちゃ、元気。すばしっこい。いつも"さんさん"と一緒に火鬼八のカキ飯を食べにやってくる。
Naughty and lively. Agile. Along with “San-san” he’s always coming
to eat the oyster rice from “Kakiya.”
三ノ鬼（さんさん）
Third Demon (San-san)
カキ飯とカキ氷大好き。たぶん何でも食べる食いしん坊。のんびり屋さんで恩賀のことが大好き。
He loves oyster rice and shaved ice. He’s kind of also a glutton
who’ll eat everything. A relaxed type, he loves Onga.
天狗
Tengu
天狗の種はすべてきよら、恩賀と通じることができる。
All species of tengu can communicate with Kiyora and Onga.
カラス天狗
Crow Tengu
自由奔放そうに見えて、実は恩賀や大天狗振り回りされている。眠るなど気を抜くと小さくなる。おじじさまからは"ぼん"と呼ばれ、かわいがれている。
He seems free and uninhibited, but actually he’s bossed
around by Onga and the Great Tengu. When he’s not aware, such as when he’s
sleeping, he becomes small. The Grandfather calls him “Bon” and spoils him.

Grandfather
カラス天狗の長老昔ながら風貌で厳島、弥山を飛び回っている。
The elder of the Crow Tengu. He flies around Itsukushima and
Mt. Misen in the form of an elder from long ago.
大天狗
Great Tengu
一ノ鬼のもと、テキパキと働く。迫力ある美人天狗で、"何でもお見通し。"
She's active under the influence of the First Demon. A powerful and
beautiful Tengu, she “sees through everything.”
Notes:
Kiyora does not use kanji for her name. However, her kanji
would most likely be 清ら. Kiyoi means “pure”
in Japanese. So we as the readers can
guess that Kiyora is kind, straightforward person.
When I looked up天然 I
got the meaning of both kind and simple, and also “airhead.” I’m not 100% sure
which one the author meant. The reason I chose “airhead” was because the rest
of the sentence seemed to be implying the more negative meaning. “But she’s a
little…” However, I don’t think there’s a strong negative meaning to this word
the way there is in English.
I used glutton as the translation for 食いしん坊 (kuishinbou). This could be used to describe a person who enjoys all kinds of food.
The second demon's name 二キ is a pun on one way to read 二 (ni) and 鬼 (oni or ki).
鬼 is also read as ki in the restaurant name 火鬼八 or Kakiya. The name is a pun because it sounds the same as 牡蠣屋 or oyster restaurant.
Right now I'm using "she" for the Great Tengu because 美人 usually refers to women. I'm also working on the translation for テキパキ, which can mean "snappy" or "briskly" or "promptly."
